A 29-year-old man was charged Friday in Douglas County District Court with multiple child sex crimes.

Adam Ryan Katz, of San Marcos, Calif., is facing six counts of aggravated criminal sodomy, a felony punishable by a life sentence if he were to be convicted.

The charging document in the case alleges that during the summer of 2018, Katz engaged in sodomy with two children who were roughly ages 5 and 3 at the time.

Katz was arrested on a probable cause warrant and booked into the jail Thursday evening, Douglas County Jail records show.

The judge who signed off on the warrant set Katz’s bond at $250,000 cash or surety, the judge pro tem said during Katz’s first appearance hearing. Should Katz make bond, he is not to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under age 18, the judge told him.

As of Friday afternoon, Katz remained in custody of the Douglas County Jail. His next court appearance is set for Nov. 17.
