Lawrence police seek witnesses in possible shooting at Kwik Shop on 23rd Street

Lawrence police are investigating and seeking witnesses to a possible shooting that was reported Thursday morning at Kwik Shop, 1611 E. 23rd St., near 23rd and Harper streets.

The person or people involved with the incident around 9:18 a.m. Thursday may be associated with a black four-door sedan seen at the Kwik Shop, according to a news release from the Lawrence Police Department.

Patrick Compton, a spokesperson for LPD, said that two people who police thought may have been involved in the incident were taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. after a car stop near Kohl’s, 3240 Iowa St., but they were later released.

No one was injured and the incident remains under investigation, according to the release.

Police ask people who think they may have seen something Thursday morning near Kwik Shop to call the investigations division at 785-830-7430 and reference case No. L20049359. Police would like the public’s help to determine the circumstances of the incident, according to the release.
