A Lawrence man was charged Thursday in Douglas County District Court with three child sex crimes.

Lazarious L. Gibson, 19, was charged with electronic solicitation of a minor and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a minor. All three are high-level felonies.

The charging document alleges that Gibson used a phone, internet or other electronic means to attempt to “entice or solicit” a person he believed to be a child younger than 14 to commit a sexual act. It also alleges that he twice engaged in sexual intercourse with a child between the ages of 14 and 16. The reported incidents allegedly occurred on separate dates last month, according to the charging document.

Judge Pro Tem James George set Gibson’s bond at $100,000 cash or surety. Should Gibson make bond, he will be placed on house arrest with electronic monitoring, and he is not to have contact with any minor children.

As of Thursday afternoon, Gibson remained in custody at the Douglas County Jail. His next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 7.
