An 18-year-old man was injured Sunday in a shooting that appeared to be accidental, according to police.

Just after 9:15 p.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of East 11th Street regarding the shooting, Lawrence Police Department spokesperson Patrick Compton said. Officers found the man with injuries that first responders believed to be serious but not life-threatening, Compton said.

Compton said the man was taken to an area medical center and is expected to be fine, and police were not conducting an active investigation Monday.
