Lawrence woman killed in towing accident was mother of 2, according to funeral fundraiser page
A Lawrence woman who died after becoming trapped under her vehicle Monday was a mother of two, a baker and a diehard fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a memorial website in her honor.
Lindsay Nicole Raine, 29, was attempting to have her own vehicle towed Monday when it rolled on top of her in what her sister dubbed a “tragic freak accident” on a GoFundMe page created to raise money for Raine’s funeral expenses.
“She was such a big hearted person and touched so many souls in her short 29 years of life,” according to the fundraiser page. “She could light up the room with a single smile.”
Raine had an 11-year-old daughter, a 6-year-old son and a “soulmate,” Juan, according to the page.
Raine had been suffering from seizures from unknown causes for the last few years and had been hospitalized many times, and she was just starting to make some headway on what was causing her health issues, her sister wrote on the GoFundMe page.
“Our family will never be the same. Our bond will never break and our love for her will never end,” Raine’s sister, Kristen Raine, wrote. “She is the rock, the foundation, the person who always changed the mood of the room wherever she goes.”
Lt. David Ernst of the Lawrence Police Department said Thursday that the accident report was not yet completed, and he had no new information about what occurred. Monday, however, an LPD spokesperson said it appeared the incident was a tragic accident.
First responders were called to Raine’s home in the 3400 block of Augusta Drive around 11:20 a.m. Monday, the Journal-World previously reported. She was extricated from underneath the vehicle and first responders attempted lifesaving measures, but she did not survive.
