Fatal crash reported in Douglas County

At least one person was killed in a fatal crash on U.S. 56 Highway in Douglas County on Tuesday, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Very little information was available from the report as of Wednesday morning; however, the report stated that a vehicle was westbound on the highway about 5 miles west of Overbrook at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. For an unknown reason, the vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane and the south shoulder, then flipped and came to rest in the south ditch.

The report noted that the crash was fatal but did not include the name of a driver. Emergency radio traffic monitored by the Journal-World indicated that one person was in the vehicle.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
