Lawrence police: Man found dead at Constant Park, but no signs of foul play

A Lawrence man was found dead Thursday afternoon in Constant Park, and investigators said there were no signs of apparent foul play.

First responders were called to Constant Park, northeast of Sixth and Tennessee streets, around 3:15 p.m. Thursday after someone found a person who was unconscious and possibly deceased, Lawrence Police Department spokesperson Patrick Compton said. An officer who arrived at the scene confirmed that the man was dead.

Shawn Patrick Young, 42, of Lawrence, had been reported missing two or three days ago, Compton said. Young, who had underlying medical conditions, had been seen alive in the vicinity of the park the day before, Compton said.

An autopsy was pending as of Friday afternoon, Compton said. Young’s family has been notified.
