A Lawrence man is facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder, among others, in Douglas County District Court.

Geryan Joseph Murdock, 21, was arrested at his home on a probable cause warrant Friday afternoon, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.

The complaint in a pending court case shows that Murdock is to be charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated robbery and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was not formally charged at a first appearance in court Friday, online court records indicate.

The complaint alleges that Murdock “fired a gun and shot at” a man and took cash from him on March 4. The incident was reported to Lawrence police as a disturbance with weapons in the 2500 block of West Sixth Street around 6:30 p.m. that day, police call logs show.

The complaint in a second pending court case alleges that on Sept. 4, 2018, Murdock was in possession of between 450 grams and 30 kilograms of marijuana with intent to distribute.

As of Friday evening, Murdock was being held on $100,000 cash or surety bond in the first case and $75,000 in the second, according to the booking log.
