Man critically injured in possible stabbing in Lawrence

A man suffered life-threatening injuries in an incident in Lawrence Friday afternoon, police said.

Just after 2 p.m., Lawrence police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of West 25th Street regarding an unknown emergency, LPD spokesman Patrick Compton said via email Friday. Emergency radio traffic shortly thereafter indicated that it was possibly a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers found two victims who had “sustained injuries consistent with a sharp object,” Compton said.

A man was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and remained in critical condition as of 4:45 p.m. Friday, Compton said. A woman was treated at the scene.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of battery, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and interference with a law enforcement officer, Compton said.

“At this time, investigators continue to process the scene, and the circumstances surrounding this incident are unknown,” Compton said.
