Man, teenager killed in Franklin County car accident

A man and a teenager from Rantoul were both killed in a car accident Wednesday in Franklin County, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

James Gregory Tracy, 67, and Harry Ray Mock Jr., 14, were eastbound on Kansas Highway 68 about 8 miles east of Ottawa in a Volkswagen Passat around 7:13 a.m. Wednesday, according to the report. The driver lost control for an unknown reason, struck a guard rail and veered into the westbound lane, where it was struck by a Ford Explorer on the passenger side, according to the report.

The driver of the Explorer, a 40-year-old Paola woman, suffered suspected minor injuries, according to the report. She was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

All involved were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
