A 76-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital Monday after suffering injuries from a car wreck on 23rd Street in Lawrence.

Lawrence police responded to the single-vehicle wreck about 10 a.m. at the intersection of 23rd and Alabama streets, said Patrick Compton, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department.

The man lost control of the vehicle and struck a traffic light pole, Compton said. The cause of the wreck was unknown and is under investigation.
