A boy who suffered serious injuries from an apparent gunshot wound Wednesday night was in critical but stable condition as of 2 p.m. Thursday, according to Lawrence police.
Around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lawrence police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of West 25th Street to what was initially reported as an unknown medical emergency, LPD spokesperson Patrick Compton said via email.
When officers arrived, they discovered a 6-year-old boy suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and immediately began rendering aid, Compton said.
The boy was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, and Compton said hospital staff reported the boy’s condition as critical but stable Thursday afternoon.
“This incident remains under investigation today,” Compton said. “However, no foul play is suspected at this time.”
