Lawrence police: 1 woman taken to hospital, 1 arrested after altercation while cooking

One woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after an altercation Friday, according to Lawrence police.

Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Graystone Drive around 4:40 p.m. Friday in reference to a disturbance, department spokesman Patrick Compton said via email.

“A group of individuals were cooking when a disagreement between two female individuals became physical,” Compton wrote.

One of the women was allegedly burned with water, Compton wrote. The other was arrested nearby and taken to the Douglas County Jail, he said.

Roslyn M. Colum, 37, was arrested at 6:48 p.m. in the same block of Graystone Drive on suspicion of aggravated battery and felony criminal damage to property, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log. She was being held without bond Friday night, the log shows.
