A Eudora woman was hit by a semitruck, trapped and seriously injured Thursday, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Tina Jinkens, 49, was walking with her dog westbound on 14th Street and attempting to cross Church Street around 11:15 a.m. Thursday, according to the report.

Steven Haynie, 45, of Pine Mountain Valley, Ga., was driving a semi and turning left to go south on Church Street when he struck Jinkens, who is visually impaired, and her dog.

Jinkens was reportedly trapped under the truck until a witness flagged Haynie down to tell him he hit someone. Haynie and the witness then extricated Jinkens, the report says.

Jinkens was taken to a hospital in Overland Park with suspected serious injuries, the report says. The report notes that a veterinarian examined Jinkens’ dog, and the dog is fine.

The driver was not injured, according to the report.
