Lawrence woman dies after truck hits her moped
A woman died Tuesday night in southeast Lawrence after a truck hit the moped she was riding, police said.
The woman, a 24-year-old Lawrence resident, was riding her moped in the 2700 block of Haskell Avenue when a pickup truck hit her, police said in a news release Wednesday morning. The woman was not identified by police in the release.
Officers were called to the scene around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday after multiple calls saying that pedestrian may have been hit by a vehicle, police said. The woman died as officers and paramedics were rendering aid, and the 2700 block of Haskell Avenue was closed until about 5 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
Officers are still investigating the incident, and no further information was available Wednesday morning, police said. No arrests related to the incident appeared on the Douglas County Jail’s online booking log as of Wednesday morning.
