Gunshots cause damage but no injuries at Lawrence apartment complex, police say
Property damage but no apparent injuries resulted from gunshots fired Sunday morning into a south-central Lawrence apartment complex, Lawrence police said.
Police officers first responded to calls about 2:50 a.m. regarding gunfire from the 900 block of West 28th Terrace and 2300 block of Ridge Court, said Lawrence Police Department Capt. Anthony Brixius in an email. Officers searched both areas but found nothing indicating shots were fired at those locations, Brixius said.
Shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of West 24th Street, where the Campus View apartment complex is located, when residents there reported broken glass and other damage apparently caused by gunshots, Brixius said. Witnesses at the complex also reported hearing gunfire at a time consistent with the earlier reports of gunfire, he said.
Officers went door to door trying to find witnesses or residents who may have been injured, Brixius said. No injuries were reported from the incident.
