U.S. Military aircraft will fly over Lawrence and the David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday ahead of the football match between Kansas and Baylor.

On Friday at 10:30 a.m., three V-22 Ospreys will conduct a practice run over the stadium, followed by a Saturday fly over minutes before the noon kickoff.

The aircraft are operated by a U.S. Marine Corps squadron based at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, according to a University of Kansas press release.

“The V-22 Osprey combines the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft, allowing Marines to transport personnel and equipment over long distances without relying on traditional runways,” the release said. “Its distinctive design and ability to transition between helicopter-like vertical flight and airplane-style forward flight have also made it recognizable to audiences through action movies and popular culture.”

Starting at $4.45/week.
