KU announced Tuesday that a pair of A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft will fly over the stadium just prior to the 11 a.m. kickoff between KU and Utah on Friday. The flyover will be part of pre-game festivities for the contest, which is the last home football game of the season.

The flyover will be conducted by pilots and crew members from the 442nd Fighter Wing, which is based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.

The A-10 Thunderbolts are combat jets often dubbed the Warthog, due to the aircraft’s blunt nose and its frequent mission of flying low to the ground in combat missions.
