A professor of finance at the University of Kansas is a finalist to become the university’s next business school dean.
Jide Wintoki will give a public presentation about his vision for the KU School of Business at 4 p.m. on Thursday at room 1020 of Capitol Federal Hall.
Wintoki oversees all KU doctoral and master’s programs in the school, in addition to the school’s popular online MBA program. Wintoki is a researcher in the areas of corporate and international finance, and recently was a visiting economist with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Wintoki, who has been at KU since 2008, earned his doctorate in finance from the University of Georgia, and has his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Lagos in Nigeria.
Wintoki is the first of four finalists who are seeking to become the business school’s next dean. Other finalists are scheduled to make public presentations at KU on April 3, April 8 and April 10. Names of each finalist are expected to be announced a few days before their campus visits.
The dean position is open after former dean L. Paige Fields resigned the position last year as she returned to teaching and research duties on the KU business school faculty.
