KU taps city administrator from Lindsborg to lead Kansas Public Management Center

The city administrator of Lindsborg has been hired to lead the University of Kansas program that provides training to government leaders across the state.

Kristi Northcutt has been chosen as the next director of the Kansas Public Management Center, which is part of KU’s nationally recognized School of Public Affairs & Administration. Northcutt will begin her new role on May 12.

The Public Management Center provide professional education and leadership training to more than 800 public service professionals across the state, and hosts multiple conferences for various government entities that attract several hundred participants.

Northcutt comes to the position after having served as the city administrator of Lindsborg, a town of about 3,700 people in central Kansas, since 2021. While there she oversaw millions of dollars in new infrastructure projects, including the completion of a $3.5 million public-private childcare center.

Prior to her role in Lindsborg, she was the senior director of community relations in Anthem, Arizona, and earlier served as a communications director for Kansas State University at its Olathe campus.

Northcutt has undergraduate degrees from Bethany College, and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Baker University.
