Here are weather-related closures and cancellations for Monday:
• The University of Kansas’s Lawrence, Edwards and Leavenworth campuses were to close early at 1 p.m., and both in-person and online classes were to be canceled. Only employees identified as “weather-essential” were to stay on campus or report to campus after 1 p.m. The university expects to resume regular operations on Tuesday morning.
• Lawrence Public Schools has canceled all after-school events, activities and practices for Monday. On Facebook, the district said dismissal will proceed as regularly scheduled and bus routes will still operate but might be delayed. Boys and Girls Club programming will remain open, but the district encourages families to pick up students “as quickly as possible.”
• The Baldwin City School District said on Facebook that all district activities would end at 5 p.m. Monday and there would be no evening practices.
• The City of Lawrence’s solid waste services were suspended on Monday because the landfill was temporarily closed. The landfill is expected to reopen on Tuesday, and when it does, the city plans to finish collecting solid waste from its Monday routes before moving on to Tuesday routes. People should continue to set their carts out on their regular collection day, but trash pickup may be delayed this week as crews work to catch up.
• Lawrence Transit bus routes that serve KU’s Lawrence campus, routes 30 through 53, were to stop at 2 p.m. Routes 11 and 12 will stop running earlier than normal, at 8 p.m.
• The Lawrence Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Monday, three hours earlier than usual.
• The Lawrence Arts Center will close at 4 p.m. Monday. All afternoon and evening classes and activities are canceled.
• Haskell Indian Nations University has canceled all afternoon classes on Monday, according to a social media post. Essential staff will still be on duty.
This is a developing story that will be updated.
