George Mason leader named as a finalist for KU business school dean

An associate dean at George Mason University’s school of business is the latest finalist to become the dean of the University of Kansas business school.

Cheryl Druehl will give give a public presentation about her vision for the KU school at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at room 1020 in Capitol Federal Hall.

At George Mason, Druehl works on issues of strategic planning, professional development programs, and improving teaching and research programs in her role as senior associate dean for faculty affairs and research.

Additionally, Druehl is in the information systems and operations management fields at the university. Her research focuses on product development, innovation contests, and supply chain management.

Druehl has a doctorate in business administration and business research from Stanford University, and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and an undergraduate degree in engineering from UCLA.

Drueh is the third announced finalist for the dean position. Jide Wintoki, a professor of finance at the KU business school, was previously announced as a finalist, as was Lin Nan, a professor and senior associate dean at Purdue’s business school. KU expects to announce one additional finalists in the coming days.

The dean position is open after former dean L. Paige Fields resigned the position last year as she returned to teaching and research duties on the KU business school faculty.
