A recently completed one-day fundraiser for the University of Kansas has generated $2.6 million in donations for everything from research projects to the university’s rowing club.

The seventh annual One Day One KU fundraising program concluded on March 6 with more than 3,700 donors from 50 states and 11 countries providing donations, according to a KU press release.

The fundraiser also featured matching gifts for more than 140 initiatives. Among the matching gifts provided were: $50,000 to the University of Kansas Health System’s Center for Advanced Heart Care; $6,000 for student support at the Edwards Campus in Johnson County; $5,000 to the Campus Cupboard food bank program for students; $6,000 for Audio-Reader and Kansas Public Radio; and $10,000 to create unique landscaped spaces on the KU campus.

The KU Crew Club, which is a student-led rowing club, also received a $100,000 donation to address essential equipment needs and to grow the club in the future.

The one-day fundraising campaign, which is run by the KU Endowment Association, has raised about $15.5 million since its inception.
