KU to host conference to help families, researchers better understand autism

The University of Kansas will host a major conference on autism, geared to both families who care for those with autism and for researchers who study the condition.

“Autism Across the Life Span” is set for 8:30 a.m. on March 24 at the KU Edwards Campus in Overland Park. There is a fee to attend the event, including a $50 fee for families and a $95 fee for researchers.

Topics scheduled for the conference include: resources and strategies for families of people with autism; information on managing medication and therapies; discussion on the transition from childhood to adolescence to young adult; and strategies on career goals for people with autism.

The conference is being hosted by the Kansas Center for Autism Research & Training, which is part of KU’s Life Span Institute.
