SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah law school will have its first female dean.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday that Elizabeth Kronk Warner has been named as the next dean of the S.J. Quinney College of Law.

She will be the first woman to lead the college in its 106-year history.

Kronk Warner is currently the associate dean of academic affairs and professor at the University of Kansas School of Law.

She is also a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She is an appellate judge for the tribe and a district judge for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribe.

Kronk Warner succeeds Robert Adler, who has been dean since 2014.

She will officially start July 1.
