If you were in North Lawrence on Friday morning, you might have seen a military tank sitting on a trailer in the middle of North Third Street, just off the Kansas Turnpike.

The driver in one of the cars escorting the tank didn’t know where it had originally come from, but told the Journal-World it was bound for Arkansas. It needed to stop so the drivers could find a safe route through North Lawrence, which has tight turns and an underpass that could pose problems for a load this big.

Apparently they found a way through; the tank had moved on by about 10:30 a.m.
