Lawrence Transit, in partnership with Explore Lawrence, will offer extended transit service on days when there are 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Kansas City.
The service will run a “Score Lawrence route” between the downtown transit hub at Vermont and Seventh Streets to the Central Station, 2315 Bob Billings Parkway, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the six days there are matches in Kansas City. Those match days will be:
• Tuesday, June 16
• Saturday, June 20
• Thursday, June 25
• Saturday, June 27
• Friday, July 3
• Saturday, July 11
As the Journal-World reported, the Central Station is one of 15 sites that will have a direct connection to downtown Kansas City during the World Cup through a regional transportation plan organized by KC2026, the nonprofit performing the host city duties for the World Cup. The “Region Direct” route costs $5 for a day pass, according to KC2026, and it will take passengers from any of the 15 sites to the official FIFA Fan Festival — located around the grounds of the National WWI Museum and Memorial.
The “Score Lawrence” route will go between the Central Station and downtown Lawrence every 15 minutes when it is in service, according to Lawrence Transit. Felice Lavergne, the director of Lawrence Transit, told the Journal-World via email the route will have “real-time arrival information” in the Transit app and on Google Maps.
To get help planning a trip on the bus or for more information about the extended service, you can visit Lawrence Transit’s website or call 785-864-4644. Information about bus service to events in Kansas City is available at the KC2026 website.
