Douglas County Public Works has closed a section of North 1400 Road starting on Monday for a bridge replacement project.

The closed area on North 1400 Road is between East 2300 Road and East 2400 Road, east of Eudora and near the Johnson County line. Construction is expected to last four months, weather permitting, according to a press release from Douglas County, and access will be maintained for nearby properties throughout the project.

The release said the existing bridge is weight-restricted and was built in 1931. The project is included in Douglas County’s Capital Improvement Plan, and it is estimated to cost $1.2 million.
