The health order issued on adult entertainment venue The Outhouse to mitigate mold exposure was rescinded on Friday.

According to a news release from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health, the order was rescinded because The Outhouse, 1823 North 1500 Road, had complied to the extent that it addressed interior areas in need of cleaning and remediation.

LDCPH said the order had been issued because of “visible mold on interior surfaces, evidence of ongoing moisture intrusion, and a musty odor throughout the building.”

As the Journal-World reported, LDCPH issued the order on March 18 after individuals reported that exposure to mold caused symptoms including respiratory irritation, headaches and sinus congestion causing people to seek medical attention.

LDCPH previously said the property owner will also be required to repair the roof of the building to prevent further water or moisture damage.

LDCPH is recommending The Outhouse take the following actions:

• Take actions to prevent regrowth of new growth of mold in the remediated areas as well as resolving the roofing problems, which could be a source of moisture.

• Be vigilant and responsive to reports on the presence of mold.
