How to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Lawrence and the surrounding area

St. Patrick’s Day is next week, and communities across the Lawrence area are gearing up with parades, live music, family activities and plenty of chances to wear a little green.
Whether you’re looking for a lively parade, a themed party with friends, or something more family-friendly, there are plenty of ways to join in the festivities this weekend and on St. Patrick’s Day. Here’s a look at some of the St. Patrick’s Day events happening in Lawrence and surrounding communities over the next week.
• White Tail Run Winery, 2327 N 400th Road in Edgerton, will have a St. Patrick’s Pop-Up Bar on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week, offering festive decor, themed cocktails and photo opportunities.
• Empire Bar & Billiards’, 1527 W Sixth St., annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade Charity Pool Tournament will be on Saturday at noon. A portion of the proceeds will go to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and people will have the chance to play pool and win prizes and prize money.
• The 38th annual Tonganoxie St. Patrick’s Parade will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Downtown Tonganoxie. The route will start at Fourth and Main and end at Tonganoxie Public Library.
• Baldwin City’s 2nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will be held on Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m., where festivities will kick off at the Baldwin City Distillery, 1747 N 200 Road, followed by a parade through Downtown Baldwin City. The Paddy Wagon Parade will wind up at the Baldwin City Beer Company, where there will be activities for kids, a fun awards ceremony, and more.
• White Tail Run Winery will also have a Leprechaun Hunt on the Disc Golf Course from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday. People pay $5 for a round of disc golf and hunt for clues hidden throughout the disc golf course to find the leprechaun. Participants lucky enough to find him will be rewarded with an annual membership with unlimited rounds for one year. For people who can’t find the leprechaun, they can seek gold coins with exclusive discounts, special treats, and even a complimentary drink. The event is open to all ages.
• The 39th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lawrence will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 1 p.m. in Downtown Lawrence. The staging area will be in South Park with the parade beginning at 11th and Massachusetts streets and ending at the Flamingo Club, 501 N. Ninth St., in North Lawrence. • Replay Lounge, 946 Massachusetts St., will have its St. Patios Day event on Tuesday, March 17 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. featuring several bands and artists – including Pretend Friend, Old Sound, Maw, Jenna Ray, Brody Buster Band, Tyler Gregory, Eric Nelson Trio and Hot Tubtones. All ages are welcome and the cost is $5.
• Coversmith will be performing at the Lucia Beer Garden and Grill, 1016 Massachusetts St., immediately following the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Lawrence on Tuesday, March 17 at 2 p.m.
• She’s So Lucky: A Post-Parade Drag Show will be held at The Bottleneck, 737 New Hampshire St., on Tuesday, March 17 at 3 p.m. The event will feature drag performances and family-friendly activities.
• The Lawrence Arts Center, 2060 E. 1400 Road, will have the Boys of the Prairie performing in the Tuesday Concert Series on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. The Center’s Irish dancers will be joining the band for an evening of traditional music and dance, and the public is invited to participate.
• Irish Road Bowling at Clinton Lake will start at noon on Sunday, March 22 at Clinton State Park in the Clover Prairie Campground. where teams of four will compete to get a metal cannonball around a 1-mile course at Clinton Lake in as few tosses as possible. All proceeds are donated to beneficiaries of the Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The suggested donation for each 4-person team is $160.
