Lawrence-Douglas County chapter of Women for Kansas invites people to film screening and panel discussion around women in public service

The Lawrence-Douglas County chapter of Women for Kansas is hosting a film screening and panel discussion centered on leadership and women in public service.

The event is a part of the organization’s celebration of Women’s History Month, and it will be Saturday, March 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lawrence Public Library Auditorium, 707 Vermont St. The film being shown is “She Dared to Dream,” which is about Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley. The event is free and open to the public.

After the screening, Rep. Barbara Ballard will lead a panel discussion about women in public service. The panelists include Sen. Marci Francisco, Rep. Brooklynne Mosley and Ursula Minor, president of NAACP’s Lawrence branch.

The press release said some of the questions that will be asked to the panelists include: How do our public leaders respond to today’s issues? And how can we engage in the political process to further our dreams for our community?
