People currently serving on nonprofit boards and those interested in doing so can now sign up for leadership training sessions that the United Way of Kaw Valley will be holding next month.
In a news release on Monday, the United Way said its two-day Board Leadership Training classes would take place at Memorial Union at Washburn University in Topeka on Feb. 18 and Feb. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The classes are intended to provide a foundation for people to become an “informed and effective board member,” the release said. They are available to all people who currently sit on a board, those interested in serving on a board and professionals interested in learning more about nonprofit management and volunteer engagement.
The cost for the entire two-day program is $75. Registration is limited to 40 people and is on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of full or partial scholarships are available. Registration closes on Feb. 13.
