Snow falls on Massachusetts Street early Monday morning on Dec. 1, 2025.

Scattered snow showers are possible Friday afternoon and evening in parts of northeast Kansas, according to the National Weather Service Office in Topeka.

The snow showers are moving south out of Nebraska and could bring short bursts of heavy snow. The snow could rapidly reduce visibility, resulting in potentially hazardous travel, according to a social media post from the NWS.

The NWS said in the post that accumulations could total up to half an inch in some locations, mainly in grassy areas. The greatest accumulation is anticipated in the Kansas City metro area.

Lawrence is most likely to see snow from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday. For the weekend, temperatures will continue to drop on Saturday with a high of 22 degrees and a low of 10 degrees. On Sunday, temperatures will be warmer with a high near 43 and a low around 13.
