With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, local organizations will be hosting a community resource fair where people can learn how Lawrence is preparing.
Lawrence will be a base camp location for the Algerian National Team, as the Journal-World reported, and a large influx of international visitors is expected. The resource fair on Thursday, April 9, will give the community a chance to visit with representatives from the Lawrence Public Library, Explore Lawrence, the Kansas African Studies Center, the Kansas Department of Commerce and more to learn about how the city will handle transportation, cultural readiness, and more, a social media post from the City of Lawrence said.
The community resource fair will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 9 in the Carnegie Building, 200 West Ninth St. It’s free, and you can drop by at any time during that window. It will also feature free refreshments and giveaways.
