Fresh yellow stripes were applied Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, in this city parking lot at Sixth and Kentucky streets.

Several of Lawrence’s downtown parking lots are getting some new stripes this week, and the city is asking residents not to park there overnight or early in the morning.

According to a news release from the city, the work will begin at 6 a.m. each day, when crews will close the lots to complete the re-striping. They will reopen the lots at 9 a.m.

The work on the downtown lots began Tuesday with Lot 12 at Seventh and Vermont streets, Lot 14 at Eighth and Vermont streets, and Lot 15 at Sixth and Kentucky streets. It will continue throughout the week in the following locations:

• Wednesday: Lot 3, on the east side of the the 800 block of Vermont Street, and Lot 9, at the northwest corner of 10th and Vermont streets.

• Thursday: Lot 5, on the east side of the 900 block of Vermont Street; Lot 11, on Vermont Street to the north of the Carnegie Building; and Lot 10, on the east side of the 1000 block of Vermont Street.

• Friday: Lot 7, just south of 11th and Vermont streets, and the angled spaces near South Park.

Here’s a map of the lots to be striped. The map is oriented so that the east side faces up.
