Protesters gather for Lawrence's No Kings rally on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Watson Park.

Lawrence will have a rally in conjunction with the national “No Kings!” events on Saturday.

The “No Kings!” demonstrations are peaceful protests of what organizers describe as authoritarian policies and corruption in the Trump administration.

Demonstrations similar to those that occurred in June, involving millions of citizens, are planned nationwide. In Lawrence, the demonstration is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Watson Park at Sixth and Kentucky streets.

“The president thinks his rule is absolute,” the Arc of Justice website says. “But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty…. No Kings is a call to build a movement strong enough to outlast and outmaneuver the forces that seek to erode our freedoms.”

The Arc of Justice is a nonpartisan grassroots organizing effort to connect people in Kansas with opportunities to engage in protest and activism.

The website lists numerous rallies that are scheduled to take place across the state, including in Topeka, Kansas City, Manhattan, Ottawa, Overland Park and elsewhere.

Registration is not required, but people who want to sign up for the Lawrence event can do so online.
