Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health to host annual safe routes to school lantern walk

Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health will be hosting its second annual safe routes to school lantern walk on Oct. 22.
To raise awareness for National Pedestrian Safety Month, the health department is hosting its second annual safe routes to school lantern walk.
Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health is inviting neighbors, school staff and families to bring homemade lanterns and walk in the Sunset Hill Elementary School neighborhood to practice crossing streets and traffic safety, according to the LDCPH website. The free event will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22. Attendees will meet at the elementary school, 901 Schwarz Road.
No RSVP is necessary. Snacks will be provided, as well as information from community groups and the opportunity to make homemade lanterns.
