A town hall meeting next week will focus on an assessment regarding the needs of local heritage organizations.

The public meeting will feature the assessment findings followed by a brief question and answer session. The meeting will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper St. Refreshments will be provided.

The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council partnered with Coneflower Counseling on the project for local heritage partners, as the Journal-World reported. Coneflower Consulting worked with staff and volunteers at heritage organizations and with community members to complete focus groups, interviews and surveys.

The results will guide planning and support for heritage organizations in Douglas County, such as the Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council, Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area, the Watkins Museum of History, the Wakarusa River Valley Heritage Museum, the Eudora Community Museum, the Santa Fe Trail Historical Society and the Territorial Capital Museum in Lecompton.
