An East Lawrence neighborhood near 13th and New York street is going to be awash in theatrical “smoke” for several days this week as firefighters train in three houses that are scheduled to be demolished, according to Capt. Nicholas Simon with LDCFM. The training is occurring with permission of the homeowners.

On Monday, multiple firefighters and vehicles were at the house at 1248 New York St., practicing firefighting skills in the afternoon rain. Two other nearby homes will also be a training ground in coming days before they are torn down.
