AAA Lawrence will be hosting a food drive for the remainder of the year to benefit Just Food, the food bank of Douglas County.
The purpose of the food drive is to help people dealing with financial hardship and food insecurity during the holiday season, according to a release from AAA Lawrence. From now until Dec. 31, people can stop by the AAA Lawrence location at 3514 Clinton Parkway, Suite K, to drop off non-perishable food items during normal business hours. The store’s hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“The Lawrence and Douglas County area is always so good to us, so AAA wants to do our part to help those in our community who are in need of a hand-up as we enter the holiday season,” AAA Lawrence retail manager Sean Herd said in the release. “We will be contributing items that are much needed by Just Food, and we invite anyone in the area to stop by – perhaps after doing their grocery shopping at the Hy-Vee next door – and do the same. Every donation helps during this time of extreme need.”
