Douglas County is set to begin two road construction projects in July, prompting closures on North 900 Road and Route 460 for bridge and culvert replacements.
Beginning July 14, North 900 Road will be closed between East 1050 Road and East 1100 Road for a bridge replacement project, according to a press release from Douglas County. While the road will be closed to through traffic, access will still be provided for nearby residents.
The existing bridge, built in 1935, spans a tributary of Washington Creek and is considered narrow by modern standards. The replacement project, part of the county’s Capital Improvement Plan, is estimated to cost $1 million and is expected to take approximately four months to complete, weather permitting.
Additionally, on July 15, Route 460 will be closed about two miles east of U.S. Highway 59 as Public Works crews begin replacing culverts at three locations between East 1400 Road and East 1500 Road.
This section of Route 460 will be closed to all traffic within the work zone. However, access to nearby properties will be maintained. This project is expected to take about four weeks, depending on weather conditions, according to another release from the county.
