Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health is now accepting nominations from Douglas County residents for the 2025 Health Champion Awards.

These awards honor those who have made outstanding efforts in promoting health across the county.

The selected Health Champions will be honored at a community luncheon during National Public Health Week, April 7-13. This event will also feature the annual Kay Kent award, which recognizes the efforts of LDCPH staff.

LDCPH Executive Director Jonathan Smith encourages community members to submit nominations.

“This award honors those who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to the health of our community, showing that their actions can lead to significant impacts on the well-being of others,” Smith said in a press release. “Health Champions are the superheroes of our community, those whose passion and commitment help create a healthier environment for everyone. I encourage you to nominate those who inspire change and those who are always M.A.D. (Making A Difference).”

The deadline to nominate is noon March 10. The nomination form is on the health department’s website.
