Haskell Indian Nations University’s spring 2025 Welcome Back Powwow has been postponed “due to unforeseen circumstances,” according to an organizer’s social media posts on Friday.

The powwow was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22, according to its Facebook event page. But on Friday, the page’s title noted that the event was postponed, and organizer Leandra Galindo posted on Facebook that a future date was still to be determined.

No reason was given for the cancellation other than “unforeseen circumstances.” The cancellation occurred on the same day as dozens of layoffs at Haskell pursuant to an order by President Donald Trump to cut the federal work force.
