The Kansas Capitol in Topeka will be one of many sites Saturday of a nationwide protest against the Trump administration and Elon Musk.
Thousands of people across the country are expected to participate in the “We the People: People’s Veto Day of Protest,” which are also called “Hands Off” protests.
In Topeka, the rally will take place at noon on the east side of the state Capitol. According to organizers, the event “will bring together activists, community leaders and everyday Kansans united in the fight for their rights.”
Social media also indicates that a rally is planned at noon Saturday in downtown Lawrence and in Wichita.
“Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. We are fighting back!” organizers said. “They’re taking everything they can get their hands on — our health care, our data, our jobs, our services — and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.”
The protests are sponsored by a political action group called 50501, which stands for 50 states, 50 protests, one day.
