The Community Children's Center unveiled a new logo at a groundbreaking ceremony for its Early Childhood Community Center project Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023.

The Community Children’s Center says it urgently needs donations for its Early Childhood Clothing Closet, a service that helps families across Douglas County.

As temperatures drop, the center needs donations of new or gently used fall and winter outfits. It also needs diapers.

“We are particularly seeking donations of pants, long-sleeve shirts, sweaters, jackets, and other essential Fall/Winter apparel,” the center said in a news release Friday. “These items ensure local children have what they need to stay warm and healthy this season.”

The center is particularly requesting clothes in sizes 3T, 4T, 5T, 6T for boys and girls, and diapers in sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7.

The Early Childhood Clothing Closet has grown rapidly since its establishment in 2023, according to the release.

“In our first year, we distributed over 7,500 clothing items, and in just the first part of this year, we’ve already given out over 15,000 items to families in need,” the release said.

If you have new or gently used items to donate, you can schedule schedule a pick-up or drop-off. Contact Suzy Green, the center’s family resource director, at suzy.green@communitychildrenks.org or at 785-813-1272.
