Lawrence drivers can expect traffic to slow down even more near downtown on Sixth Street starting Thursday.

Workers will begin paving the inside lanes on Sixth Street from Massachusetts Street to Kentucky Street beginning at 5 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, according to a release from the city. Traffic will remain open during the work with flaggers helping to direct the flow of traffic.

The city recommends using an alternative route to access the downtown area and expects the work to be done by the weekend, according to the release.
