Pies and turkeys are needed for Lawrence’s annual Community Christmas Dinner on Dec. 25.
The dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont St.
Organizers are hoping to get 60 12- to 15-pound frozen turkeys for the feast. Turkeys will be collected at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 Bob Billings, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 17. If you are able to donate one or more turkeys, call Deb Engstrom at 785-727-3790 or email engstromdeb5550@gmail.com.
Pies of any sort can be brought to First United Methodist Church any time after 6 a.m. on Christmas Day.
Meals will be delivered as usual. Anyone who did not preorder a meal can request delivery by calling 785-841-1516 after 6 a.m. on Christmas Day.
Monetary contributions are also gratefully accepted, organizers said, as funds are needed to offset the additional costs related to the meal. To donate, send a check to First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont St., Lawrence KS 66044. The check should be made out to First United Methodist Church with Christmas Dinner in the memo line. An electronic option will also be available soon on the FUMC website, www.fumclawrence.org.
If you’d like to volunteer to help with the dinner, volunteer signups will be available by Dec. 9 at www.fumclawrence.org.
