A rain and temperature forecast for Lawrence through Thursday evening.

A chance for rain continues through this week as Lawrence has received about an inch more rain than is typical for July, according to the National Weather Service.

Lawrence received just under half an inch of rain Tuesday afternoon, bringing the month’s total to 3.87 inches, which is about 1.3 inches higher than normal, said meteorologist Matt Wolters with the National Weather Service in Topeka.

“July has been wet, relatively speaking,” Wolters said.

Lawrence has received about 17.19 inches of rain this year, which falls about 3 inches below the average, Wolters said. Most months this year have been drier than normal, with January and April being the only months in line with expectations, he said.

Thursday and Friday both have about a 30% chance of rain in the evenings with temperatures in the mid- to upper 80s with chances of rain diminishing over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to climb back into the lower 90s on Sunday and into the upper 90s starting next week, possibly reaching 100 degrees on Tuesday.
