The Lawrence City Band performs its first concert of the season at South Park on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

In anticipation of stormy weather through the rest of the day, the Lawrence City Band’s concert scheduled for tonight will be moving indoors.

The free concerts typically take place at South Park, but this one will instead take place at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive, at 8 p.m. Tonight’s musical theme is “Americana.”

Sponsored by the City of Lawrence and the Rice Foundation, the Lawrence City Band is scheduled to perform one more concert next Wednesday to round out the eight-concert series. Next week’s show, again scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. at South Park, has “More Americana” as its theme.

The band is conducted by Paul Popiel.
