Barbers square off in the Cuttin’ It Up Barbershop Showcase Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at an event sponsored by Lawrence Magazine, eXplore Lawrence and Watson’s Barbershop, at Venue 1235 in North Lawrence.

An event Sunday in North Lawrence put the art of barbering on display for a crowd of more than 200 people.

The barbering contest, called the Cuttin’ Up Barber Showcase, featured three contest categories and around 20 competitors from Lawrence, the Kansas City area, Junction City, Hays and Omaha. The event was sponsored by Lawrence Magazine, eXplore Lawrence and Watson’s Barbershop, where organizer Jermaine Jackson works.
